Family-friendly chalet close to La Clusaz, with incredible views of pistes
There’s always a warm welcome at Chalet Fan la Bise, as the friendly owners live on site. They are happy to provide a catering service, airport transfers, ski-fitting service and advice on activities, places to go and the best places to ski, away from the crowds. The traditional chalet is at the end of a private road, so peace and quiet is guaranteed, and children can play safely all year round while adults enjoy the wonderful views of the pistes from the sunny balcony. It’s a short drive or 20-minute walk into the bustling town of La Clusaz, with a good choice of shops and restaurants, or you can catch the ski bus, which stops just 200m away.
Relax in the hot tub after a perfect day in the Aravis mountains
You’ll feel immediately at home at Chalet Fan la Bise, which sleeps 12 people in five comfortable bedrooms, including a two-roomed family suite with its own bathroom. Downstairs, there’s a TV room (British and French satellite) as well as the large main living area, so everyone can find their own space. There’s wifi and a range of games consoles too, so kids of all ages will be happy while adults curl up on the leather sofas in front of a log fire. But after a strenuous day in the mountains, perhaps the best place to be is in the Scandinavian hot tub, where you can soothe aching limbs while you admire the views and congratulate yourself on finding this perfect Alpine retreat.
Fabulous skiing just minutes away, and there’s so much more to discover
There’s great skiing at La Balme, just 2km from Chalet Fan la Bise, with more choice at La Clusaz, where there is weekly floodlit skiing. The ski bus stops less than 200m from the chalet, so you won’t waste any time getting to the slopes. A single Aravis ski pass links La Clusaz to Le Grand Bornand, giving you more than 200km of pistes to explore. There’s great terrain for cross-country skiers at the nearby Confins and Beauregard plateaus. Non-skiers will have no time to be bored with an ice-skating rink and cinema, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides. If you’re looking for the ultimate in relaxation, let your cares float away in the heated outdoor pool at La Clusaz, while the snow falls gently around you.
So much to do in the mountains, you won’t want to go home
There’s so much to do in the La Clusaz area during the summer, you’ll wish you’d booked an extra week. Walking or biking in the mountains is a pleasure, and all the hard work is done for you if you take the ski lift to the top and come down at your own pace! The owners of Chalet Fan la Bise will be happy to recommend a route, or you can pick up a map at the tourist office in La Clusaz. Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking or white-water rafting. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness. After a strenuous day, you’ll be glad to get back to Fan la Bise for a barbecue and a soak in the hot tub.
Mountain villages, markets and lakeside town waiting to be discovered
